My approach

I notice the details. I assess and analyse everything!

This is how my brain works.
I often think in the abstract, particularly when simulating potential solutions, and exploring what consequences may result. I use all my senses, in conjunction with data collected with precise instrumentation.

I guess that's why I've found myself at the pointy-end of the industry. I show-up when a system is not working correctly and in cases where a repeating failure-cycle has occurred.

To sum it up... my niche is solving critical, complex and intermittent system failures.

I do get stumped sometimes. When I do, I follow this process:

  1. Collect a lot of data.
  2. Consider new and historic data with first principles.
  3. Hypothesise, test, prove.
  4. Quote repairs, complete repairs, write reports.

Written reports

The written word can be powerful and is always reliable.

While I admit to having a heavy reliance on my computer's spell-check function, you can be sure that all of my reports are true, reliable and whole.

I won't be omitting any of the "inconvenient findings"...

That's why my reports can be extremely valuable.

They shine a light on any hidden defects that probably won't be noticed during the first few years or decades (when you still have a chance to have it rectified by the builder or contractor).

Let me help you to make an informed choice.

I'm regularly asked to conduct an inspection and to prepare a report for various types of people and reasons including:

  • Building owners: prior to purchasing a building.
  • Tenants: to know the true condition or suitability of pre-existing HVAC plant within a building (prior to signing a lease).
  • Tenants: to prevent or prepare for disputes that may arise with their landlord.
  • Stakeholders of a recent construction project: to conduct an independent review of a facility. Usually undertaken between "practical completion" and before the defect and liability period ends.
